New Cone Crusher
Metso
has officially introduced the new Nordberg HP4 cone crusher to
the North American market, after unveiling it in Europe last spring.
The first in Nordberg’s line of high-performance cone crushers, the
HP4 is said to produce much finer products with fewer crushing
stages than competing units. Metso claims it combines optimized
speed with a large throw to provide the highest reduction ratios of
any cone crusher on the market today.
HP4 features include dual acting hydraulic
tramp release cylinders that allow the unit to pass tramp iron that
Metso says would stall or damage other crushers. An advanced
fastening system for the mantle and bowl liner eliminates the need
for backing material and makes liner changes quicker. The unit has
thicker liners for longer life and Nordberg has greatly simplified
the replacement procedure.

Tier 3 articulated truck
debuts
Case
has rolled out the Tier 3 versions of its 27-ton 327B and 30-ton
330B articulated trucks. The new models get more horsepower than the
models they replace, as well as new cab ergonomics and a number of
service and maintenance upgrades. Carryover features include Case’s
signature integrated differential, variable geometry turbocharger,
auto warmup system, and self-diagnosed fluid-level checks.
The new 10-liter Tier 3 engines feature
increased fuel pressure at cylinder entry and variable-geometry
turbochargers that optimize the fuel-to-air mixture for peak
performance in varying conditions. Along with new cab comforts and
visibility, the new models now feature a new front suspension system
to absorb shocks from rough terrain and to provide a more
comfortable ride. The new front driveline features an integrated
transmission-mounted differential that transfers power directly from
the transmission to the front wheels, eliminating a drive shaft as
well as noise and vibration.

Leak-free hydraulic
couplings
Holmbury
says its new RoFLEX 5000 line of high-pressure hydraulic couplings
is designed for severe breaker and sheer applications and offers the
industry’s longest warranty. The screw couplings can be connected
and disconnected under pressure and offer a one-year warranty
against leakage. Holmbury says they will last for years — even in
severe applications.

Aggressive pre-cleaner
Martin
Engineering heralds its new Martin Pit Viper sand and gravel belt
cleaner as an aggressive pre-cleaner specifically engineered for
applications in the aggregate industry. The company describes it as
an economical package that will remove sticky sand and wet fines on
belts from dredges, sand screws, and other sand processing
operations, as well as withstand abrasive rock chips and dust
remaining on the belt in crushed stone plants. Features include a
one-piece urethane blade that contains about 20 percent more
urethane than other pre-cleaners and is set at an aggressive angle
of attack to increase efficiency. Blade replacement requires no
tools — the new blade drops in place onto the cleaner’s steel
mainframe and is secured with a wire lockpin.

New-generation dozer
Case
has released the 1150K dozer, a 118-horsepower Tier 3 certified
machine with an operating weight of just under 28,000 pounds in
standard trim. Also new on the 1150K: a new cab design with better
lines of sight to the blade and climate control as a standard
feature, low-effort electronic blade control, and high-performance
hydraulics for blade speed, superior blade force, and precise blade
control. The machine features hydrostatic drive and Case’s
proprietary extended life undercarriage.

New line of pedestal booms
One
of Europe’s largest suppliers of pedestal booms has launched its
line in North America. Tecman says its Quarry-Pro line has proven
itself in Europe over the past five years. The company says its
leading edge features include a standard slew ring with 350-degree
rotation, electronic pilot control systems, variable displacement
axial piston pumps, and excavator-type rotary frame and boom
structures that are purpose-built for quarry environments.

New dispatching software
BMG Seltec has released version 2 of its
Central Dispatching software system. It is fully integrated with the
company’s asphalt and aggregate enterprise and site automation
systems for seamless management of the order-to-delivery cycle. The
company recommends the system for small and large producers alike.
The new software is said to feature extensive graphic views and
real-time refreshment of the data utilized at production sites, as
well as many enhancements for faster, simpler usage.
