Severe-duty Crusher Debuts
Telsmith says the new crusher incorporates a revolutionary hydraulic adjustment and overload protection system that utilizes a moving toggle beam. The system positions the toggle beam and holds the crusher setting; hydraulic tensioning cylinders hold proper toggle tension through the entire adjustment range and overload protection is automatic. Click 53 on Reader Service card The next step in GPS automation Topcon has broken new ground in Global Positioning System reliability and precision with the unveiling of its Paradigm G3 chip, which can track all signals from all three satellite-positioning systems, including the European Union’s brand new Galileo system launched in December. When Galileo is fully operational, Topcon users will have access to more than 80 positioning satellites, reducing problems with lost signals caused by canyon effects and improving accuracy and precision. The chip is said to be much faster than current chips, about 75-percent smaller, and it uses less power. Click 52 on Reader Service card Laser and GPS controls Caterpillar says its AccuGrade grade control system is the first factory installed, sensor-independent grade control system that allows users to easily interchange between laser and GPS. Its plug-and-play connections allow operators to use GPS for complex 3-D designs, such as roads with intricate elevations, and then switch to laser for flat, consistent slopes, such as parking lots and less complex stretches of roads. Cat claims the grade-control system improves operator productivity by 30 percent or more. Click 58 on Reader Service card New generation in bagging Hamer says its new 300VF volumetric filler/bagger marks a new generation in bagging. Hamer says the design features a unique leveling device that replaces the traditional leveling chain design, eliminating adjustment, maintenance, and breakage issues with chains. Filling accuracy is also enhanced by independently controlled belt and level speeds, and an automatic shutoff gate eliminates overfill from product free fall. The new model is designed for automated or manual poly-bagging and supports bag rates up to 35 bags per minute. Click 50 on Reader Service card W.S. Tyler has introduced a long life, small-diameter wire for high-wear screen applications. The company says its new Ty-Ger Wire is formed from a unique high-carbon alloy and engineered with a patented drawing process that gives it elasticity and high resistance to wear and tearing. Click 55 on Reader Service card Compact trommel sets up fast Powerscreen has announced a new, compact trommel for reclamation, processing, and stockpiling topsoil and compost. Powerscreen says the Phoenix 1200 sets up in less than five minutes, and its drum is powered by a four-wheel friction drive that eliminates wear associated with conventional drives. Click 62 on Reader Service card New cab options Kenworth is now offering its Extended Day Cab and AeroCab sleepers on T800 wide-hood vocational trucks. The extended cab model is 6 inches longer than the standard cab and 5 inches taller. It offers more legroom and 21 degrees of recline in the driver’s seat, plus 2 cubic feet of extra storage behind the driver’s seat. Kenworth says vocational truck buyers are opting for upgraded cabs to help driver retention and resale value of their trucks. Click 63 on Reader Service card Optimizing sand loads Petersen Industries says its SL2 and SL3 Sand Loaders pay for themselves quickly by allowing companies to optimize dump truck loads of sand quickly and efficiently. The units are installed next to a truck weighing scale and are used to add or subtract weight from outgoing trucks. The Sand Loaders help operators avoid overloading fines, undersized load inefficiencies, and long delays for load adjustment using manual labor. Click 54 on Reader Service card
Bulk Equipment Systems Technology designed its new TSF twin-screw feeder to provide precise batching and weighing in limited-space applications where multiple individual screw units aren’t practical. The company says the feeder’s dual-helix design combines fast, high-volume filling with accurate dribble flow at the end of the cycle. Click 56 on Reader Service card Water treatment system

Click 61 on Reader Service card New book blasts off The Third Edition of Rock Blasting and Overbreak Control, formerly published by the Federal Highway Administration, has been issued by Precision Blasting Services of Montville, Ohio. The new edition has been updated by Dr. Calvin Konya to show current technology on blasting, new blast design methods, and new, revised specifications for surface-blast design projects. Click 59 on Reader Service card Collectors’ edition model Superior Industries is offering a collectors’ edition scale model of its TeleStacker conveyor. The company says it is the first conveyor system model to be scaled to a true 1:50 and was produced from the actual blueprints of the 150-foot TeleStacker conveyor. Click 60 on Reader Service card Tractor-scraper Caterpillar has rolled out a G-series version of its 657 Wheel Tractor-Scraper, the largest in its line. The new model features new Tier 3 engines for the tractor and the scraper, and both engines have dual horsepower capabilities for improved gradeability and reduced cycle times. OilTrap
Environmental has introduced the ElectroPulse system for treating
wash-water generated from washing vehicles, equipment, and
stormwater run-off in the asphalt industry. The compact, modular
system uses electrocoagulation to remove contaminants such as
emulsified oil, total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH), suspended solids,
and heavy metals without the use of filters or chemicals. It can
process up to 200 gallons per minute, producing water that can be
recycled or discharged to a sanitary sewer or surface-water,
according to the company.
Aggregates
being transported in dual-outlet hopper-bottom railcars will unload
faster and with less spillage using a new railcar connector with
pneumatically actuated lifters, according to Cyclonaire Corp. Like
its companion model for single-outlet hoppers, the newest CycloLift
allows operators to elevate the material chute from between the
tracks, position the CycloLift adapter plates directly under each
hopper slide gate, and mate them firmly against the hopper gates
throughout the unloading operation.
Larmee
Equipment & Supply (LES) is showcasing the company’s rock drilling
equipment and compressors to the public through unique mobile
graphics on the company’s H1 Hummer. The LES H1 Driller is being
shown at industry events, equipment auctions, and jobsites
throughout the South and Midwest this year.
