 Built for Abrasive Environments

Hamer says its model 3100 is the only bagging machine built specifically to perform continuous, trouble-free automated bagging of rock, concrete, sand, and other abrasive materials. To deal with these challenging environments, the 3100 has double-sealed self-cleaning pulleys, self-cleaning bag conveyors, advanced dust control, and bag seal cleaning to ensure proper sealing even with high dust content products. The extreme duty form, fill, and seal machine features a powder-coated frame and half-inch steel plate internal components. A variety of bag features, including handles and corner seals, are also available.

Upgraded jaw crusher

Terex Pegson has upgraded its 24- by 36-inch Metrotrak M Series single-toggle jaw crusher. The company says the aggressive crushing action of the newer, bigger machine enables high output in recycling and aggregates applications, even in tight settings. The tracked unit is said to also feature fast setup time and ease of transportation.

In-spec in tough conditions

Aggregate Innovations’ Computerized Sand Re-blending Controls are designed to make consistent, in-spec stockpiles, even in tough conditions with difficult specifi-cations, according to the manufacturer. The controls can be installed on any manufacturer’s tank. Both the CSR and CSR-Multi tank controls are able to produce products with difficult specifications such as golf course sand; generate daily, weekly, monthly, or customized reports on classifying tank activity; and predict the tonnage of material. Both types of controls also feature tonnage prediction, fineness modulus tracking to adjust the coarseness of the material, remote monitoring, and the option of producing any one of the following three types of specifications: percent passing specifications, percent retained specifications, and cumulative percent retained specifications.

Sees and stops

MICO says its new Object Detection and Brake Interlock System adds an additional layer of safety when dump trucks and other construction vehicles back up. When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the PreView radar object detection system from Preco Electronics senses both stationary and moving objects. An on-board display module gives the operator visible and audible indications when an object is identified, and the tempo of the lights and sounds increase as the distance to the object narrows. At a predetermined distance, the MICO 691 Brake Lock system stops the vehicle to prevent a collision; it can be over-ridden by a manual release button.

Dusting with nanotechnology

United Kingdom-based MonoSol says it used nanotechnology to create TerraLOC, a new dust abatement family of products. The water-soluble compound is said to be biodegradable, environmentally friendly, easy to apply, and quick to cure. A wide variety of conventional praying equipment can be used without modification, and it can be cleaned with water — no solvents are needed. The product is said to act like a net, impregnating unbound or un-compacted material like soil and sand that overlays the subgrade to suppress dust.

Improved GPS antenna

Trimble says its new MS990 SmartAntenna is a rugged, reliable positioning sensor for use with the company’s new GCS900 3D Grade Control Systems. The satellite-positioning tool can track L2C and L5 GPS signals as well as GLONASS, giving equipment users the ability to work in tough GPS environments at longer ranges with faster initialization times, according to Trimble. The GCS900 system is used on excavators for mass excavation, dozers and scrapers for bulk earthworks, and motor graders for finish grading.

Automatic action plan

Two suppliers of Web-based equipment maintenance and management technologies have joined forces to create a system that integrates critical oil analysis results directly into an organization’s maintenance management system, significantly reducing reaction time to critical maintenance issues. eMaint Enterprises and Polaris Laboratories say their new eMaint X3 system will improve the overall reliability of a fleet by integrating oil analysis results and recommendations and maintenance management systems.
