Portable Crushing System
Cedarapids says its new MACS portable processing
plants are different from other mobile plants because they are complete,
highly integrated systems that are designed to optimize production and
minimize setup time. The company says the MACS line uses larger crushers
and screens than are typically used in track or wheeled plants. Their
unique trailer designs can be permitted for travel throughout most of
the continental United States, according to Cedarapids, with heights of
less than 13 feet, 6 inches and widths less than 12 feet. Interplant
conveyors are designed into the units so separate transfer conveyors are
not required. Folding conveyors and walkways are set up using on-board hydraulics, eliminating the need for cranes or
lifts. Large, hydraulic support legs level and stabilize the units to
speed setup.
The units use industrial electric drives, so they can be powered by generators or by line power when it is available. The operator can view the entire circuit from a central pop-up control module.
Large throughput mobile screen
Extec is rolling out the S-7 Triple Deck-Double
Screen designed for producers who need large throughput, “true”
mobility, and four clean gradings. Its triple-deck, double-screen design
is said to allow independent screen box slope, vibration, amplitude, and
speed. Also featured are extended stockpiling conveyors with faster
running belts, and a purpose-built chassis with long tracks.
Innovative washing solution
W.S. Tyler designed its new Tycan Hydro-Clean to
remove silt and clay particles as small as 63 microns from mineral
mixtures, often allowing the user to avoid dumping costs by turning
waste materials into sellable material. The maximum size of the feed
material can range from 0 up to 150 mm (6 inches). The “dirty material”
is fed to a washing drum where high-pressure nozzles rotate at 60 rpm
and spray the material at pressures up to 2,900 psi. The water streams
are injected into holes and cracks in the rocks that are difficult to
reach with log washers, screws, and other cleaning technologies,
according to the company. The system is said to use less water and power
than any other washing system.
On-board scale systems
Case Construction Equipment is now offering two optional on-board scales for its large and mid-size wheel loader models. The scales are the Loup Electronics Load Log 800 and Load Log 8000. The scales allow the loader operator to weigh “on the lift,” avoiding the inefficiencies associated with overloading or underloading trucks. Case and Loup Electronics have a long and successful client-supplier relationship.
New baghouse system debuts
KPI-JCI has introduced a new baghouse filtering
system for its Fast Trax line of track-mounted material processing
equipment. The patent-pending filter system improves engine protection
by filtering intake air before it is introduced to the conventional air
cleaner. The self-cleaning system uses compressed air to pulsate and
purge the bags of contaminants.
The company says the filter system makes it unnecessary for operators to check and clean conventional air filters daily, reducing the potential for failures due to improper reinstallation. KPI-JCI says the system means conventional air cleaners only need to be changed or cleaned at regular oil change intervals, reducing maintenance costs.
New track-mounted crusher
Screen Machine’s new 5256T impact crusher is a
track-mounted unit powered by a 475-horsepower diesel engine. It
features a 52- by 56-inch horizontal impact crusher, a 46- by 38-inch
feed inlet opening, and full remote control operation. Its split housing
design is said to allow for blockage clearance during operation and ease
of maintenance. A wireless remote control triggers the lifting lid,
allowing oversized material to pass through the crusher without
stoppage.
Quick-fix magnetic patches
Horizon Conveyor Equipment has developed a new
line of quick, secure patch solutions using high-power magnets.
Developed by Magna-Skin Technologies, the Magna-Patch is a reusable
magnetic patch for repairing holes in steel pipes, flat back elbows,
silos, chutes, hoppers, and other steel items susceptible to abrasion.
The reusable patch system is simply positioned over the worn out area
and held in place magnetically until the next scheduled shutdown.
Also new is the Magna-Plate, a wear-plate
fastening and replacement system comprised of impact- and
abrasion-resistant material imbedded with powerful magnetic elements.
Magnetic elements secure a ferrous wear plate or steel-backed ceramic
wear surface to the Magna-Plate. Horizon says the magnetic energy is
permanent and the fix is maintenance free.
‘Flagship’ trommel
Powerscreen says its new Phoenix 3300 trommel is
the biggest two-way split mobile trommel screen in the Phoenix range.
Its four-wheel drive friction drum system is designed specifically for
topsoil, recycling, compost, and other applications.
High-visibility ears
Bilsom has extended its line of high-visibility designs to include its AM/FM Radio earmuff. The bright green earcups and a reflective headband on the new Hi-Visibility earmuffs are said to be clearly visible, day or night.
Truck Briefs
Kenworth Truck Co. achieved the highest ranking
in customer satisfaction among Class 8 vocational truck owners in the
new J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Heavy-Duty Truck Customer
Satisfaction Study released last month. The company also garnered
top ratings for the Over-the-Road and Pickup & Delivery categories.
Mack Truck is offering special financing arrangements on Mack Granite vocational trucks and tractors with pre-U.S. ’07 engines. The promotion includes special loan rates, the option of delaying the first payment for 60 days, and either a GAP coverage waiver worth $1,250 or $800 toward the first payment. Trucks must be financed by Oct. 31, 2007, to be eligible.
Sterling has launched an updated Web site that includes the latest specs and information, as well as increased functionality. www.SterlingTrucks.com
Roadranger has released results from fuel economy testing that show its new generation of Roadranger Synthetic Lubricants for truck transmissions and axles produces fuel savings of more than 1 percent.
Briefs
Telsmith has launched an expanded Web site that includes complete product line information, listings for used and certified-rebuild equipment, and contact information for Telsmith territory managers. www.telsmith.com
Superior Industries says its new Urathon Return Roller has three times more wear life than traditional rubber return rolls.
Perforated Screen Surfaces has launched a redesigned Web site — www.perforatedscreens.com — that the company says is easier to navigate and contains product selection guidance.
Screen Machine has received a U.S. patent for the Crusher Blockage Clearance Apparatus feature on its 4043T and 5256T track-mounted impact crushers.
Valley Technology, a Scotland-based technology firm, introduced “The POD Father” software — a pay-as-you-go, Proof-of-Delivery system — at the Hillhead 2007 show in England. The system is said to automate delivery and invoicing paperwork.
