Buffalo Wire Works Co. appointed Michael J. Burns chief financial officer. Burns comes to Buffalo Wire Works with eight years of global financial accounting and advisory experience, most recently as a manager at one of the Big 5 firms, Ernst & Young, as well as BDO Seidman.

Nortrax, one of John Deere’s largest North American dealer organizations, added three people to its executive management team: William A. Horaney, vice president, sales and marketing; Mike Wingard, vice president, product support; and Mark Germain, vice president, product support.

Caterpillar Inc. formed Caterpillar MineStar Solutions to develop, market, and support the MineStar suite of products, including the Computer Aided Earthmoving System (CAES) and Aquila drill management systems.

Extreme duty tires for skid steers
Caterpillar offers a complete line of Extreme Duty Pneumatic and Extreme Duty Solid Flexport tires for skid steer loaders. The pneumatic tires are available in two sizes, 10-16.5 and 12-16.5. Both include deep treads, heavy sidewalls, and large rim guards. The Flexport tires offer elliptically shaped holes molded in the outer ring of the sidewall. According to the manufacturer, the elliptical shape helps reduce cracking and chunking. InfoExpress 708

Heavy duty series added to split bearings
Craft Bearing Co., Inc., added an S2 heavy duty series to its line of split roller bearings. Split bearings eliminate the need to remove shafts or drive components to replace bearings in equipment such as crushers, conveyors, fans, screens, and pug mills. InfoExpress 709

Replacement idlers resist rust
YeloRoll, from EnvirO Corp., features a patented Combi Cap, which is designed to reduce rust or corrosion, exposed steel, and has no snap ring to rust away. The replacement rollers also feature steel idler weight, an inner non-stick surface, and a 10-mm wall.

The second edition of Rock Blasting and Overbreak Control is now available through Precision Blasting Services. It is designed as a guide for efficient blast design and vibration control. The second edition includes updated information on blasting, vibration control, and revised blasting specifications for surface blast design projects.

Concrete Primer updated
The American Concrete Institute offers the fifth edition of Concrete Primer. The 2002 edition uses a question and answer format to address subjects such as concrete properties and ingredients, activities prior to and during construction, lab and jobsite testing, and post-construction procedures.

Larger excavator offered
Daewoo Heavy Industries America Corp.’s Solar 470LC-V is the largest crawler-type excavator in the Daewoo line. It features adjustable controls, a 312-net hp Daewoo engine, and a bucket capacity of 2.8 cu. yd. An Electronic Power Optimizing System called e-EPOS-V allows the operator to maximize work efficiency over a full range of operating conditions and to minimize fuel consumption, the company says. With an operating weight of 104,900 lbs., the excavator includes standard features such as air conditioning, a stereo/cassette radio, and joystick control.

Truck designed for quarry use
The HD605-7 dump truck, from Komatsu, is designed to increase production at a quarry site, according to the manufacturer. The 69-ton haul truck features all electronic controls, a hydraulic system designed for power and control, and a two-door walk-through cab. A 715-hp, 6-cylinder Komatsu engine operates the 242,290-lb. machine. With speeds up to 43.5 mph, the HD605-7 is Komatsu’s fastest truck in its class.

Portable washing system
According to Global Equipment Marketing, the Wheelwash Rhino System cleans truck wheels and tires in up to 45 seconds. The portable cleaning system is designed to set up in a few hours and only requires water and electricity at a site to work properly. Powered by a 22 kW electric motor, the Wheelwash system features an inductive loop system which activates the high pressure spray system. Above-ground installation is on a crushed stone base or concrete/asphalt pad.

Track-mounted crushers come to America
Pacific Rim Crushers introduces its complete line of track-mounted crushers to the North American Market. The line includes jaws, horizontal shaft impactors, vertical shaft impactors, cones, and screening equipment. All units are fitted with vibrating grizzly feeders or feed hoppers.
