Crawler tophammer drills debut
Furakawa Rock Drill introduces to North America its FRD-series hydraulic crawler tophammer drills, replacing its HCR-series machines. FRD drills feature the HD-700 series dual-dampened drifters that the company says reduce heat and shock, resulting in increased penetration rates and longer bit, rod, and coupling life. The drills have Caterpillar undercarriages.

Primary impactor handles up to 800 tph
Cedarapids’ new 1520 Andreas-type primary horizontal-shaft impactor reduces 34-in. feed material to minus-7-in. at a rate of up to 800 tph, the company says. The 1520 uses a 61-in. diameter, 80-in. wide rotor available with three or four impact bars. The single-piece, 5-in. thick bars offer three-turn wear. Breaker plates include a reversible, cast monoblock primary and a secondary with interchangeable, 3-in. thick liners.

Mobile screen has automated feed
Metso Minerals’ ST351, introduced at this month’s Intermat exposition, is the third in the series of mobile screening plants incorporating the company’s SmartScreen technology. The ST351 combines a 9.6-cu. yd. feed hopper with a 5- x 12-ft. two-bearing screen box and folding product conveyors. SmartScreen technology includes an Intelligent Controller (IC300) that automatically adjusts material feed rate and screen box performance to maximize screening efficiency, Metso says. SmartScreen technology also controls the start-up and shutdown process and monitors key functions and components.

Pulleys designed for mines
Superior Industries offers mine-duty drum and wing pulleys in the same size ranges as CEMA-rated pulleys. They are designed to meet heavier load requirements and exceed standard safety factors, the company says. The pulleys are robotically welded on both sides of the hub and have one-piece, reinforced rims. Flat contact bars on wing pulleys provide longer wear life and increased beating action with less noise, according to the manufacturer. Superior can design shafts to meet specific requirements.

Color sand for new markets
Wizard Technologies’ foam colorant and coating system can open new markets with colored and coated sand, stone, compost, rubber chips, and slag, the company says. The system has low water requirements and reduces second handling and drying time, allowing product to be immediately bagged from the colorizer, according to Wizard Technologies. The WizTech system is available as a portable unit.

K-Tek Corp.’s paddle switch Model KP bin level indicator has a screw-off cover for easy access, the company says. The unit’s low-speed, low-torque, synchronous motor always stays energized to eliminate moisture. Internal switches can control up to two operations.

Chute system provides smooth material transfer
Parramatta Group introduces a Controled Flow Material Transfer System comprised of hood and spoon components. The hood section collects material from the discharge belt, concentrates the flow, and directs it onto the spoon section, which “softly” and uniformly positions the material on the receiving belt. The system provides centered belt loading and eliminates the need for skirt rubber, impact beds, and impact troughing beds, the company says.

Secondary impactor accommodates changing applications
Universal Engineering’s new NGS Secondary Impact Master crusher is designed for field modifications to accommodate changes in applications and product requirements, the company says. The crusher has hydraulic-shim adjustment on the standard two, or optionally three, impact curtains. Wear liners on the curtains and the crushing chamber walls are interchangeable. Bolt-on feed chute modules are designed for several feed components, such as screens, feeders, and conveyors. The crusher has a disc-type rotor with S-shaped hammers and can crush up to 819 tph, Universal says.

Eagle Iron Works introduces a Low Clearance Height 44-in. double screw fine material washer for portable wash plants. Designed to eliminate the need for screen removal during transport, the unit features a redesigned tub and low-height feedbox. Capacity — up to 350 tph — is the same as standard units, according to EIW.
