2,000-gpm pump primes from dry
Godwin Pumps new Dri-Prime HL 160M produces maximum flows of 2,000 gpm at heads up to 600 ft., the company says. It can handle solids up to 1-3/8 in. in diameter. The pump automatically primes from dry to 28 ft. of suction lift and can run dry without damage during intermittent flow conditions, according to Godwin. Mounted on a skid, it has an overnight running fuel tank. InfoExpress 713
One-hand dozer operation

Blasting plug design reduces insertion problems
Vari-Stem blasting plugs feature a patented gear design that allows for positive insertion into blast holes, adds to the plugs structural strength, prevents crushing of the detonating cord, and prevents the cord from being pulled into the drill hole during plug insertion, according to the manufacturer. Vari-Stem plugs have been shown to increase rock fragmentation and crusher output, reduce fly rock and air blast, improve cap rock breakage, and reduce noise and vibration, the company says. Configure couplings on-line
Lovejoys new Configurator is an on-line tool for selecting the proper coupling for a specific application. Available at www.lovejoy-inc.com, the Configurator translates raw data into CAD drawings and dimensional datas, which can be downloaded or emailed, for various styles of flexible coupling. The system can automatically compute certain parameters, such as torque, when users enter horsepower and RPM. Other features include definitions of coupling styles and terminology; side-by-side comparisons of coupling styles; photos, specifications and performance data; and specific part numbers. Rubber layer extends plate life
Flexible Steel Lacing Co. (Flexco) says its new rubber-topped bolt solid plate conveyor belt fasteners provide longer life, faster installation, and reduced noise. The 190VP has a 1/8-in.-thick layer of 65 durometer natural rubber vulcanized to top-plate fastener segments. When countersunk, top plates are shielded from abrasion and become invisible to belt cleaners, according to Flexco. InfoExpress 718
Belt Brake
Superior Industries introduces the Rollerbrake, a conveyor idler with eight braking elements enclosed. The braking device is activated by reverse movement of the conveyor belt over the face of the roll. The roll stops immediately, preventing the belt from running away down an inclined conveyor, Superior says. Rollerbrake does not eliminate the need for a backstop, but if a belt breaks, it will stop the belt from rolling back and discharging its load, which a backstop does not prevent. InfoExpress 719
