Innovative washing solution
W.S. Tyler designed its new Tycan
Hydro-Clean to remove silt and clay particles as small as 63 microns
from mineral mixtures, often allowing the user to avoid dumping
costs by turning waste materials into sellable material. The maximum
size of the feed material can range from 0 up to 150 mm (6 inches).
Dirty material is fed to a washing drum where high-pressure nozzles
rotate at 60 rpm and spray the material at pressures up to 2,900 psi.
The water streams are injected into holes and cracks in the rocks
that are difficult to reach with log washers, screws, and other
cleaning technologies, according to the company. The system is said
to use less water and power than any other washing system.

New baghouse system debuts
KPI-JCI has introduced a new baghouse
filtering system for its Fast Trax line of track-mounted material
processing equipment. The patent-pending filter system improves
engine protection by filtering intake air before it is introduced to
the conventional air cleaner. The self-cleaning system uses
compressed air to pulsate and purge the bags of contaminants. The
company says the filter system makes it unnecessary for operators to
check and clean conventional air filters daily, reducing the
potential for failures due to improper reinstallation. KPI-JCI says
the system means conventional air cleaners only need to be changed
or cleaned at regular oil change intervals, reducing maintenance
costs.

Large-scale breaking
Atlas Copco’s 5,500-pound HB 2500 hydraulic
breaker features Krupp technology in an attachment engineered for
rock mining and secondary breaking. Designed for carriers in the 29-
to 43-metric ton range, the HB 2500 can accept up to 58
gallons-per-minute hydraulic flow at 2,610 psi of pressure, and
delivers an impact rate of 550 blows per minute. It features
PowerAdapt, a proprietary new system that shuts down the breaker if
it receives excessive oil pressure from the carrier, preventing
damage to the breaker from oil flow complications that can arise
when attaching the breaker to different carriers. The unit also
features AutoControl, a monitoring system that allows the breaker to
adapt its frequency and power output to match operating conditions.
It begins by firing the first stroke at half power to create a pilot
notch that will center the working tool and prevent slippage. It
