[1]Caterpillar’s new B Series articulated truck models include the 735B with a 36-ton payload, the 740B with a 43.5-ton payload, and the 740B EJ (ejector body) with a 42-ton payload. All three models are available with Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB-certified emissions configurations, as well as revised transmission and traction-control systems for increased productivity. The trucks focus on reducing driver effort and cutting operator fatigue through an improved cab design that features a redesigned instrument cluster and customizable color multi-purpose display that provide the operator with all necessary operating information; a new headliner with switches for electric mirrors, regeneration operations, and a heavy-duty CD/radio; an upgraded driver’s seat with new multiple position adjustments to improve ride quality; and an engine hood raise switch positioned in the cab for easy access. Cat has improved its six-wheel-drive system with a torque-distribution, automatic traction control (ATC) system that eliminates the need for driver intervention to maintain maximum traction in difficult operating conditions.
