Cemco VP Jennifer Hise named 2014 STEP Award honoree
The Manufacturing Institute has announced that Cemco Vice President Jennifer Hise is among the 2014 STEP Award honorees.
Now in its second year, the STEP Awards “identify and highlight women who have demonstrated excellence in manufacturing,” giving recognition to women from factory workers all the way to senior management, according to the Manufacturing Institute’s website.
The site also notes that the awards “call for women in Science, Technology, Engineering or Production roles who have made significant achievements in manufacturing through their positive impact on a company’s product development, process improvement, project, sale, or other similar activities.”
The Manufacturing Institute named Hise as a 2014 STEP Award honoree for a number of reasons.
One of those is her work to help develop a quality management system for Cemco and install a state-of-the-art communications system that links Cemco employees, customers and suppliers worldwide.
Also contributing to her STEP Award is her success as a woman in the male-dominated manufacturing industry. The Manufacturing Institute notes that Hise was the first female plant manager for TXI, and that her technical and interpersonal abilities have garnered industry-wide respect.
Hise’s community work also helped her become a STEP Award honoree. She has worked to help the Greater Belen Chamber of Commerce embrace a more progressive work network and was named earlier this year as a New Mexico Business Weekly “Women of Influence” in the New Mexico business community.
Hise told the Manufacturing Institute that her background in the industry, as well customers and the production process, contributed to her passion for manufacturing.
“I am passionate about manufacturing as it is an industry I’ve grown up in,” Hise said. “I love providing a solution to customers and contributing to the aggregate/mining industry. I love the size and strength of the equipment and everything involved in the production of the material that is involved in every part of our lives.”
The Manufacturing Institute will present the 2014 STEP Awards on Thursday in Washington, D.C.
