Coming Soon to AGG 1
In February, the AGG 1 Forum & Expo will showcase a collection of new products and equipment for the aggregates industry. Here’s a preview of what you can see at the show.

Dredging Supply Co.
Dredging Supply Co., Inc. will showcase its winches designed specifically for dredging applications. The company says its winches feature excellent braking capability to absorb energy as the load is slowed, even speed control, and larger drum diameters for increased cable storage capacity. The drums include a level wind mechanism to ensure smooth, even spooling of the cable.
Attach/remove hopper easily
IRock Crushers will display its new Hydraset Hopper System for its RDS-15 and RDS-20 rock crushing equipment lines. According to the company, the system is designed to attach and remove the hopper/feeder module as a unit without the aid of any outside lifting devices, allowing the entire unit to be transported and set up safely and easily by one person in just minutes. The system has its own internal power pack.
Stronger than traditional woven wire
Though it isn’t brand new, Major Wire Industries plans to display its OptimumWire woven wire screen media for the first time at AGG 1. The company says the screen media is manufactured with a high carbon and manganese content to provide better abrasion resistance and performance, and its high ductility, hardness, and tensile strength make it less susceptible to breaking in high impact conditions.
Skirtboard seal with twice the wear life
Martin Engineering will feature a patented conveyor skirtboard seal that installs on the sides of a belt conveyor loading zone and provides two wear surfaces. When the bottom side of the strip against the belt is worn, the strip can be flipped over to provide a second wear life.
Reduces quarry shot limestone
Universal Crusher plans to display its VersaCap primary impact crusher, the Shot-Rock, which is designed to reduce quarry shot limestone. The crusher features reversible hammers with a protruding leading edge to provide longer wear life and an “adjust-on-the-fly” capability option. The unit is available in three sizes.
Updated conveyor pulley line
Superior Industries plans to unveil pieces from its updated conveyor pulley line at the show next month. In addition to the company’s mine duty, super duty, and engineered class style pulley lines, the new v-shaped Chevron wing pulley will be on display. It is designed to deflect incoming material out and away, making it nearly impossible for rocks and other material to wedge between the pulley’s fins.
Energy-saving electromagnetic feeders
Eriez says it will be displaying three versions of vibratory feeders and bin vibrators at AGG 1 — the B electromagnetic feeders which use less energy with their patented AC drive, the HV mechanical feeders (shown) which offer a low profile and rubber springs outboard on the base for smooth feed, and the BF mechanical feeder which features the Eriez ERV rotary motor for rugged applications.
Process equipment line
Linatex will be showcasing its newly designed and re-engineered G4 process equipment line that includes pumps, hydrocyclones, and dewatering screens. The G4 pumps are available in rubber (shown) or hard metal. The rubber pump is specifically designed for use in abrasive slurry and chemical application, while the metal pump is engineered for coarse particle size and high head applications.
According to the company, the G4 hydrocyclone features three innovations — an interchangeable inlet wedge that minimizes downtime by allowing machine performance to be fine tuned without removing it from the process line, an involute swept entry design that reduces turbulence and delivers sharp classification, and a drop-in replacement liner that provides abrasion resistance and reduced maintenance costs.
The company says its G4 dewatering screen is designed for maximum water recovery, increased load capacity, and the lowest total cost of ownership. The units curved sieve-like feed section and upward inclination main deck increase its dewatering capacity.
Land-based bucket-ladder dredge
Rohr Corporation plans to display its newest development in underwater mining technology, its land-based bucket-ladder dredge. Although the company has built several of these units worldwide, the concept is relatively new in the United States. With the dredge, the company says the producer is capable of maximum extraction of shallow-depth deposits (36 to 40 feet). Extracted material can be stockpiled, conveyed directly from the dredge, or fed onto a haul truck.
KPI-JCI/Astec Mobile Screens
KPI-JCI will feature several new products at the show, including its low-profile drive-over truck unloader and the ProSizer 2612V screen. The low 3-foot profile of the 48-inch truck unloader means operators spend less time prepping the work site with earthen ramps. The unloader’s compact design makes it easy to move to multiple locations and eliminates time spent loading/unloading machinery from a trailer.
The ProSizer 2612V screen is Astec Mobile Screens’ solution for handling RAP. The screen incorporates a double-deck VariVibe high-frequency screen and a horizontal shaft impactor. The machine’s design includes increased ground clearance for easier transport and maneuvering, as well as an open top for full use of the 24-inch return conveyor.
Road-portable jaw crusher
Telsmith, Inc., an Astec Industries company, will be showcasing its new Hydra-Jaw model H2550 jaw crusher designed for road-portable or track-mobile crushing. The company says the crusher’s main frame uses a new sculpted profile to minimize weight and height while maintaining strength and integrity. A hydraulic toggle provides push-button setting adjustment, tramp iron protection, and chamber-clearing functions.
Cone crusher doubles capacity
FLSmidth Excel LLC will introduce two new Raptor cone crushers — the XL500 and XL2000. The company says the XL500 fills a gap between two existing sizes, while the XL2000, a 2,000-horsepower machine, doubles the capacity of the previous largest crusher to offer industry-leading features, including easy access to critical load-carrying bearings. Both crushers have an extra-heavy-duty, high-grade steel mainframe, a leading-edge automated control package, and an advanced hydraulic tramp release cylinder and clearing system.
High-performance, low-maintenance centrifuge
Derrick Corp. will promote its new DE-7200 centrifuge, which the company says provides aggregate wash plant operators with a high-performance, low-maintenance, operator-free solution to cumbersome belt presses or batch-operated plate/frame presses when handling by-product super fines. According to the company, the centrifuge converts the pre-thickened solids from a clarifier, radial thickener, or other solids-consolidation equipment and dewaters them into a stackable and conveyable form at 75 percent solids, eliminating the settling pond facility.
Low-cost excavators, haul trucks
Hitachi Construction and Mining says, although it will have no products on display, the company’s experts will be on hand to discuss how Hitachi excavators and trucks can provide low-cost solutions for quarry operations. Hitachi offers a number of quarry-sized excavators including the EX 1200-6 with a bucket range of 14.4 to 15.7 cubic yards and the EX1900-6, which has a front-shovel bucket range of 7.71 to 8.5 cubic yards. The newest trucks are the mechanical-drive EH750-3, EH1100-3, and EH1700-3. The company says the EH1700-3 has an innovative suspension system, unitized frame, improved power options, and upgraded electronics systems.
