Connecticut police investigate skid steer theft

Connecticut police are investigating the theft of a John Deere JD 240 skid steer loader from the Herb Holden Quarry in Union near the Massachusetts border, TheDay.com reported .
The machine is a 2000 John Deere skid steer, model 240, VIN #KZ0240A140371, police say.
Though the theft was reported March 11, the theft likely occurred on March 7 between the hours of 6:40 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. at the Herb Holden Quarry, located at 23 Holland Road, Union, Connecticut.
Distinctive features include extra “L” shaped welded brackets reinforcing the bucket, extra steel welded to the front of the bucket to extend the cutting edge by 3 feet, “Herb Holden” written on each side, the Herb Holden symbol on both sides and stick-on number “421″ on the right rear back side.
The skid steer has an estimated value of $15,000.
