smiths logo [1]Operators Smiths Bletchington have submitted a proposal to Oxfordshire County Council for an expansion of the Gill Mill quarry at Ducklington, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, according to BBC News [2].

The quarry, if approved, would release five million tonnes (about 5.5 million tons) of new sand and gravel reserves, securing about 100 jobs for the next 14 years.

The extension would be located on farmland just north of the existing 20-year-old site.

The proposal includes measures like new countryside paths and bridleways, nature conservation areas and recreational lakes.
