Agencies that produce federal reports such as construction spending, construction employment, housing starts and diesel fuel prices reopened Thursday following a 16-day shutdown of the federal government .
Most reports stopped in the first week of October.
Our sister site, Better Roads, reports that Congress and the White House have passed a temporary spending measure that will allow federal government agencies to remain open through January 15. The measure also extends the debt limit through February 7 .
The Senate reached the agreement Wednesday afternoon. A New York Times report notes that the House passed the measure at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, and President Obama signed it into law around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.
Among the agencies that reopened today are the U.S. Department of Transportation , the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
