Safety is job one for U.S. aggregates operations. Over the years, Aggregates Manager editors have toured dozens of operations throughout the country. During those visits, it’s been very clear that protecting miners is the top priority for not only health and safety experts, but plant superintendents and executives as well.
The good news is that attention to safety is paying off. Over the last two years, mining deaths have fallen from the recent 2014 high of 30, but any death is one too many. We would like to do our part to ensure a safe 2017 by sharing your best tailgate talks or safety pointers with the entire industry. This is one issue where there are no competitive boundaries.
So talk to your team. Ask them what safety talk or tip had the greatest impact. Whether it was a suggestion on lockout/tagout, machine maintenance, or guarding against falls, we’d like you to share it.
All entries will be featured in a photo gallery on our website. In addition, we will interview three finalists for our July Operations Illustrated feature on tailgate talks. One lucky winner may be featured on our cover.
The contest deadline has been extended to May 22, so enter now. Please…we need your entries!
