Howard Wood

Howard Wood has been named area manager for the Columbus, Ohio, office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global infrastructure strategic consulting, planning, engineering and program/construction management organization.

Formerly a Principal Consultant in the strategic consulting group of Parsons Brinckerhoff, Wood will now manage the Columbus office, which includes 22 professionals and specializes in preliminary project development, transportation and environmental planning, multimodal analysis, travel demand modeling, traffic engineering and highway and bridge design.  Clients include the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), City of Columbus, the Franklin County Engineer’s Office, and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission.

Wood, who joined Parsons Brinckerhoff in 2009, has a broad base of experience that includes transportation planning and program management, including policy research, freight planning, asset management, and public-private partnership advisory. He has led numerous federal policy studies for the National Cooperative Highway Research Program managed by the National Academies of Science. He has also led regional plans for state departments of transportation and metropolitan planning organizations.

Prior to joining Parsons Brinckerhoff, he was the deputy director of planning for ODOT, where his responsibilities included guiding and participating in strategic management initiatives, developing department business plans, and overseeing project development and capital planning with performance measures for the department’s $2 billion annual construction program.

Wood holds an M.S. degree in public policy from Rutgers University and a B.S. in business administration from The Ohio State University. He is a member of the American Society of Highway Engineers.
