Dozer operator training
Immersive Technologies released a new dozer operator training technology for use with its Advanced Equipment Simulators, including the PRO3. The release includes dozer enhancements in SimControl 4.2, including a task-based operator assessment and reporting system together with multiple on-screen training assistant tools designed to accelerate learning. It also includes extensive new training functionality and support for Caterpillar’s D11T track dozer.
Online environmental training
A new six-part online series on concrete and cement technology, Cement and Its Impact on Concrete Performance, explains cement’s role in sustainability, cement types, and applications, as well as how cement affects the performance of concrete. Each hour-long module focuses on professional development while addressing relevant topics and issues. Courses are self-paced and offer CEU/PDH credits.

The new Dust Control Handbook for Industrial Minerals Mining and Processing is the result of a three-year collaboration between the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and the Industrial Minerals Association – North America. The illustrated handbook offers a range of engineering controls capable of limiting dust generation and worker exposure.

Guidelines for responsible quarrying
The newly released Guidelines on Quarry Rehabilitation provides practical guidance for managing the impacts of quarrying activities and ensuring that environments are properly revitalized. New safety standards
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has approved two American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) standards addressing fall protection — the ANSI/ASSE Z359.14-2012, Safety Requirements for Self-Retracting Devices for Personal Fall Arrest and Rescue Systems; and the revised ANSI/ASSE Z359.4-2012, Safety Requirements for Assisted-Rescue and Self-Rescue Systems, Subsystems, and Components.
