New loaders and quick-coupler
Cat used ConExpo-Con/Agg to roll out its new 938H wheel loader and IT38H tool carrier. The stable mates get Tier 3, 180-horsepower engines, a new on-the-go differential lock system, and a unique new Fusion coupler system. The new front axle has standard front differential lock; Cat also offers an optional automatic differential lock for both the front and rear axles, an exclusive feature. Cat says differential lock replaces the traditional limited-slip differential and improves fuel economy while enhancing traction and reducing tire wear.
The patented new Fusion coupler system pulls the coupler and work tool closer to the loader for better machine performance than other quick-couplers. Its open frame design also provides excellent sight lines to the work tool and the load.
New wheel loader series
John Deere used ConExpo-Con/Agg to introduce its new K-series wheel loaders. Compared to the J-series, the new family has a new, quieter, more comfortable cab, Tier 3 engines, and a more sophisticated diagnostic menu on its monitors. Models from the 444K through the 7-cubic-yard 844K also have Deere’s new modular cooling system designed for greater efficiency and decreased debris build-up. The company’s larger loaders also feature sealed pins that never need greasing. In addition to upgrading its eight-model loader line, John Deere has added a new model — the 2.75-cubic-yard 524K. The new utility-size loader is a niche between the 2.5-cubic-yard 444J and the 3-cubic-yard 544K.
New shooting boom excavator
Gradall has introduced a 44,000-pound version of its telescoping boom excavators. The new XL 4300 III has a tilting, telescoping boom, and a shorter, reduced-swing carrier than other Gradall models. The 173-horsepower machine has a digging depth of 21 feet, 3 inches.
