The The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office Community Response Team is investigating the theft of copper wire from a rock quarry near Dayton, Oregon, according to the Yamhill Valley News-Register [2].

The theft took place May 5 at a rock quarry located off Northeast Mallard Lane. The suspects took about 1,000 feet of wire, worth approximately $20,000.

According to the Yamhill Valley News-Register’s report, the suspects are “three males, and one has a distinctive ponytail that extends to the middle of his back.”

The time stamps on surveillance photos released by the sheriff’s office show that the theft took place within about 30 minutes. Captain Tim Svenson of the sheriff’s office said, “They knew what they were doing…. They were in and out quickly.”

This is not the first time the quarry has been victimized, Svenson said.

To contact the sheriff’s office with details regarding the theft, call Deputy Justin Brester at 503-434-7506.
