Long tread life
Titan Tire says its DTE4 tire offers radial construction and a deep lug tread pattern. Its E-4 tread depth promotes long tread life and excellent traction, while the open, non-directional tread pattern provides self cleaning and extra bite on the ground. An open center tread design helps reduce internal heat generation and allows heat to more easily dissipate, reducing tire fatigue and extending tire life. The tire is available in four sizes — 18.00R33, 24.00R35, 27.00R49, and 33.00R51 — and a variety of compounds.
Large contact area for even wear
Michelin’s X-Quarry S tire for rigid dumpers features non-directional tread with deep, angled grooves and an unbroken center for reduced vibration. A square, reinforced tire shoulder provides a large contact area for even wear. A thick sidewall band protects the tire from abrasions and damage caused by rocks or other debris. The tire is said to be easy to repair and features cooler operating temperatures and low rolling resistance for better fuel economy and lower operating costs.
Yokohama’s RT41 E-4 radial tire is specially designed for articulated dump trucks and scrapers. It features four steel belts to promote long-lasting service. The company says the tread pattern design with non-directional block pattern provides both abrasion resistance and excellent traction on soft, rocky, and gravel surfaces. The tire is available in three sizes: 23.5R25, 26.5R25, and 29.5R25.
Extra-deep tread pattern
Two off-the-road tires from Goodyear boast an extra-deep tread pattern for enhanced performance in certain conditions, interlocking stability blading to promote a solid footprint, and high-angle grooves for traction and cleaning. The RM-4A+ E4 is available in six sizes: 2700R49, 3300R51, 3700R57, 46/90R57, 53/80R63, and 59/80R63. The RM-3A E3 is available in two sizes: 53/80R63 and 59/80R63.
Bridgestone’s V-Steel J-Traction (VJT) radial off-road tire features a computer-optimized center block that minimizes vibration levels, reducing friction between the center block and the ground to improve wear resistance and tire life. The tire has a specialized self-cleaning tread design and non-directional tread pattern to maximize tread volume and traction in all directions. The tires are available in five sizes — 17.5R25, 20.5R25, 23.5R25, 26.5R25, and 29.5R25.
Quick tire changes
Titan’s Accelerated Change Technology (ACT) wheel features a design that allows service technicians to change or rotate the rear tires on a mine haul truck quickly and easily. Featuring two-piece lock rings that can release the tire assembly from the wheel, the ACT wheel allows for easy removal. When an inside dual tire needs to be changed, it simply slips over the outer dual wheel, saving nearly half the time previously needed to change tires.
