Martin Marietta Materials bought four quarries located in the western United States from Cemex for $65 million, according to newsobserver.com. The quarries are located in the western United States — Fort Calhoun, Neb., Guernsey, Wyo., and Milford, Utah. Martin Marietta bought the remaining 49-percent interest in a fourth quarry in Granite Canyon, Wyo. that was co-owned with Cemex.

According to the Triangle Business Journal, Martin Marietta may not be done buying quarries. “We’ve got a lot of fire power,” Martin Marietta Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephen P. Zelnak Jr. told the newspaper in a phone interview. “We think this is a good time to be looking at acquisitions.”
