Summit Proppants will soon produce sand at a new quarry in Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri.
The company’s vice president of operations, Mark Rust, announced Thursday that the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has granted Summit Proppants a mining permit that will allow the company to begin mining sand at the quarry.
Summit Proppants says the sand will be used as a proppant in hydraulic fracturing in the oil and gas industry.
The company has the rights to mine about 70 acres and intends to produce a 20/50 mesh size washed sand from the Cambrian LaMotte Sandstone.
Rust noted that state and federal agencies will supervise the mining activities. He added that the crush strength meets all API and ISO specifications.
Summit will be able to produce sand all year.
