Van Kirk Sand and Gravel of Sutton is set to construct storm sewer connections in Grand Island, Nebraska, from U.S. Highway 30 to the detention cell at Koenig and Broadwell, according to a report from The Grand Island Independent [2].

The $1.2 million project, which is intended to reduce post-storm street flooding on Highway 30, will include the construction of drainage inlets on First and Division streets between Logan and Madison streets.

The project will also include the reconstruction of handicapped-accessible sidewalk ramps, the addition of new concrete pavement and additional relief for storm sewer draining from Third Street.

Construction will be implemented in two phases and is expected to be completed by May 2014.
