New Holland Construction [1] is donating a New Holland L225 skid steer loader, including a bucket and pallet fork, to help dig and load and move mulch, stone and other materials used to enhance four facilities in downtown Louisville, Ky.,in support of the inaugural PLANET Gives Back community service project.

The PLANET Gives Back is being held in conjunction with PLANET’s 2011 Green Industry Conference [2] and the 2011 Green Industry & Equipment Expo [3] at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

“We are proud to donate our equipment, time and resources to an important cause that gives back to the local community in such a noticeable way,” said Dave December, marketing manager at New Holland Construction, in a written press statement.

Project sites for PLANET Gives Back include the Bridgehaven Mental Health Services [4] (950 S. First Street, Louisville), Engelhard Elementary School [5] (1004 S. First Street Louisville), Heuser Hearing Institute [6] (117 E. Kentucky Street, Louisville ) and The Center for Women and Facilities [7] (927 S. Second Street, Louisville).

PLANET members, volunteers and event sponsors will plant shrubs, flowers and turf; add outdoor seating areas; replace and maintain walkways; install water features; build raised planters; design garden spaces; mulch and repair turf on playgrounds and prune ornamental trees at these locations.

“New Holland skid steers tackle everything from digging, lifting, hammering and trenching, to mowing, sweeping, raking and drilling. The New Holland 200 Series skid steer loader donated to the PLANET Gives Back project will be put to good use today to help beautify these areas of Louisville.” December said.

PLANET Gives Back complements two other service projects the landscape association holds each year – the nationwide PLANET Day of Service, held in April, and Renewal & Rememberance, held each July at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.
