flsmidth-excel-raptor-xl900WALES, WI – The new Raptor® XL900, from FLSmidth Excel LLC, joins the Raptor Cone Crusher line as a high-performing, cost-effective solution for medium- to high-tonnage aggregate and mining operations.

With its higher pivot point and larger crushing stroke, the XL900 delivers more crushing action from the first nip at the feed opening and through the chamber until the material exits the parallel zone. Perfect for mines needing a large secondary cone crusher, the XL900 has a maximum throughput capacity of almost 1,400 TPH (1,270 tonnes). The unit handles feed size up to 14.57 inches (313 mm) and easily allows a reduction ratio of up to 6:4. In aggregate applications, the active feed opening provides a desirable cubical product shape for higher yields of salable material. Although it has a large 71-inch (1.8 m) crushing head, the XL900 can be installed to replace cone crushers with a 59-inch (1.5 m) head diameter or larger without major modifications to foundations or feed arrangements. This allows producers to increase their production capacity without major plant renovations.

Powered by a 900 hp motor, the XL900 is designed to operate and remain mechanically sound at a wide range of eccentric speeds. Because of this versatility, the eccentric speed can be selected to maximize throughput, size reduction, product shape or product yield.

The Raptor XL900 is the first high-performance cone crusher built with a rigid four-arm frame and integral countershaft mounted inside one of the four arms. This provides a stronger frame design and avoids pitfalls associated with an external countershaft box. The crusher also employs “fail safe” hydraulics through an internal relief valve within the dual-acting tramp release cylinders, which ensures the machines stay protected from mechanical overload should an accumulator bladder fail. Advanced overload sensing technology detects crushing force overload. A simple alarm is activated, or the system can be automated to take corrective action. This same advanced automation system can be used to optimize crusher performance, with feed control, setting adjustment and monitoring of all critical lubrication and hydraulic parameters.

An additional safety feature standard on all Raptor models is the counterclockwise rotation crushing action that protects the machine if adjustment ring movement is excessive or if the ring gear brake fails.

The growing family of Raptor High-Performance Cone Crushers includes the XL1100 – the largest cone crusher available on the market – the XL300, XL400 and XL600. FLSmidth Excel has designed these machines, employing the results of extensive research conducted with operator input, with the goal of keeping mining companies and aggregate producers crushing at the highest production levels, in the most demanding hard rock mining and crushed stone applications around the world.
