October 2008 – RollOuts
Innovative housing and rotor
Stedman says its new, patent-pending V-Slam VS-88 vertical shaft impactor features innovative housing and rotor designs; an easy-access low-profile split-swing lid; higher operating speed for finer grinding; and capacities up to 500 tons per hour.
Dewaters plant sludge
McLanahan Corp. has obtained exclusive rights to market Matec Machinery’s HPT Plate and Frame Filter Press in the Americas. The company says Matec’s use of high pressure technology (HTP) allows the press to work at pressures of up to 300 pounds per square inch and handle even the most difficult, high-clay-content sludge. The Matec Press is said to function without use of flocculants and does not require a full-time operator to monitor feed density, flocculant dosage, or belt conditions. McLanahan says the unit also eliminates the need for settling ponds.
Bigger track-mobile plant
Telsmith has expanded its QuarryTrax line of track-mobile crushing plants with the introduction of the T16060, a primary impact plant designed for high-capacity production up to 800 tons per hour. The plant features Telsmith’s PA6060 primary impact crusher, which boasts a massive solid rotor set on oversized 220 millimeter, wide-series bearings. The large rotor allows the unit to crush 40-inch stone or concrete slabs.
Compact portable plant
Pump Vacuum Systems has developed a different way to produce sand and gravel using the company’s PVS Jet Pump. It created a portable plant that can produce multiple products while washing the material. The plant uses a grizzly screen to remove oversize, then moves sized material into the pump, where it is washed and conveyed either to a de-sander or a velocity box, then separated into final products. The company says its first plant is producing 300 tons per hour using one wheel loader to charge the plant and load trucks.
Self-dumping dust collector
Farr Air Pollution Control has introduced a new self-dumping hopper that simplifies the disposal of dust captured by cartridge-style dust collection systems. Farr says the hopper, available in one or two cubic-yard capacities, is easier to use than conventional barrels or collection drums and is recommended for a full range of dry mists, including those that must be reclaimed or recycled after the collection process.
New vibrating screen
W.S. Tyler has rolled out its new TYCAN HSG T0Class vibrating screen which allows the stroke and amplitude of the vibration to be adapted to product requirements quickly and easily, without new parts. The company says its new technology allows screen media to be “easily blended, modified, and exchanged, optimizing wear life versus open area.”
New 3-yard loader
Komatsu has unveiled the Dash-6 version of its 3.25-cubic-yard WA320PZ-6 wheel loader. The 32,480-pound machine has a 167-horswepower, Tier 3 engine and comes standard with Komatsu’s fleet monitoring system which relays machine operating data to a secure Web site for tracking. The Dash-6 also offers a new parallel linkage loader arm design for enhanced efficiency in fork applications. Its new cab is pressurized and quiet – the company says noise levels have been reduced to 70 dBA.
Three new excavators
Case Construction Equipment has added three more excavators to its CX B Series: the 79,065-pound CX350B, the 103,800-pound CX470B, and the 153,400-pound CX700B. The machines get Tier 3 engines with common rail fuel injection that deliver up to 7 percent greater fuel efficiency than previous models. They also get more hydraulic horsepower and larger-diameter hydraulic cylinders. The CX350B and CX700B now feature regenerative hydraulics on the boom and arm, as well as the bucket curl, speeding digging cycle times.
