The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) has launched the PCI eLearning Center, a free 24-hour online education resource providing an opportunity for architects and engineers to earn continuing education credits on demand.
The PCI eLearning Center is the first education management system dedicated to the precast concrete structures industry. Visitors to the PCI eLearning Center can create a personal profile and gain access to an ever-increasing number of online courses. Each course includes a webinar presentation recording, pertinent reference materials, and a quiz. All courses on the PCI eLearning Center offer continuing education credit in all 50 states.
“PCI is proud to offer this outstanding new program to design professionals,” said PCI President James G. Toscas, P.E. “They can easily log on, view a one-hour webinar course at any time, and then complete a quiz for continuing education credit. Each courses is registered for credit with organizations that may include AIA, NCEES, and/or USGBC.”
Seven courses are now available through the PCI eLearning Center, with new courses being added frequently. The courses are free and can be completed in one hour. With the increased move toward sustainable design, designers are taking a fresh look at prefabrication as a means of boosting quality while minimizing site disruption. In response to this trend, several of the courses offered through the PCI eLearning Center focus on precast concrete’s role in sustainability.
Current course offerings include the following: o Designing with the 7th Edition PCI Design Handbook: An Introduction (1 PDH) o Life Cycle Assessment and How It Can Contribute to Sustainable Design (1 GBCI CE/1 PDH/1 LU)
o Parking Structures: Best Practice to Design, Build and Maintain (1 PDH/1 LU)
o Quality Assurance – Your Lifeline to a Better Project (1 PDH/1 LU)
o Precast Concrete – Providing Aesthetic Versatility in Color, Form, and Texture (1 PDH/1 LU)
