Case Construction Equipment has added the CX160C excavator to its C Series product line, offering 5-percent fuel savings over the CX160B.

The CX160C has a 3-percent cycle time reduction, a 2-percent lift capacity increase and a 440-pound operating weight upgrade compared to its B Series counterpart.

A 124-horsepower ISUZU AM-4JJ1X Tier 4 Interim engine cooled exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) technology powers the machine, which has has an operating weight of 38,001 pounds, a bucket digging force of 25,200 to 26,500 pounds, arm digging force of 16,200 to 18,800 pounds and a maximum dig depth of 19 feet, 9 inches to 21 feet, 3 inches.

Standard bucket sizes range from 0.36 to 1.28 cubic yards.

The CX160C includes several fuel-saving features. The three engine modes–speed priority, heavy duty and  automatic–allow the operator to choose the power and fuel economy, while the machine’s throttle can be tailored to the task at hand.

Its CASE Intelligent Hydraulic System technology includes Boom Economy Control and Auto Economy Control to lower RPMs during the boom down and swing operation or when joysticks are inactive, Swing Relief Control to manage hydraulic power and Spool Stroke Control to automatically adjust pressure during digging operations.

Case kept operator comfort in mind when designing the excavator’s Level 1 ROPS/FOPS cab, which has 19-percent better visibility than the previous model and noise levels in as low as 69.9 decibels. Operator-friendly improvement include an air-ride seat with adjustable armrests and five primary adjustments, 7-percent more overall space, 25-percent more airflow and 20-percent better air conditioning performance.

Other cab features include auxiliary hydraulic setting system with an option for 10 memory-recall settings, as well as a rearview camera that feeds video to a 7-inch LED monitor that also shows operating data and fuel consumption per hour. Optional side cameras are also available.

To simplify service and maintenance, Case designed the CX160C with an easy-to-reach air filter and fuse box, 500-hour engine oil change intervals, 5,000-hour hydraulic oil change intervals and 1,000-hour greasing intervals with Easy Maintenance System bushings.
