Volvo Construction Equipment introduced its all-new flagship wheel loader, the L350H, at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2017. The wheel loader is said to feature a 10 percent improvement in fuel efficiency and productivity improvements, as well as a new design, and it comes with a new powertrain, new hydraulics, and a new operator environment.
The company says the L350H is fitted with next-generation hydraulics and powered by a Tier 4 Final D16J engine, for high torque at low rpm. It also comes with a higher capacity 9.5 cubic yards (7.3 cubic meters) rock bucket, for maximum performance. Its new load sensing hydraulic system is said to work in harmony with the drivetrain to increase response times (and lifting and lowering speed of the newly designed buckets) for up to 5 percent faster cycle times.
Volvo’s Fully Automatic Power Shift (FAPS) system allows for machine operation in the optimal, fuel-efficient gear. The eco-pedal, with a push-back mechanism engages when engine rpm is about to exceed the most economic operating range, so the operator can then reduce the pressure and continue within the fuel-efficient range.
The L350H has been built with operator comfort in mind boasting excellent visibility, minimal noise and vibration levels, and the controls can be configured to suit operator preferences. Ergonomically spaced steps and sturdy handrails provide easy entry and exit to the cab. The Contronic monitoring system and digital display incorporate the latest improvements in intelligent Human Machine Interface (HMI) to monitor operation and performance in real-time, providing the operator with all necessary machine information.
The engine hood is designed to allow complete access to the engine compartment, making maintenance and service checks quick and easy. LED work lights and reflective stickers that follow the machines contours help to increase machine visibility. An optional rear-view camera with an adjustable mounting bracket and new side-view mirrors make it easier for the operator to safely monitor operations from all angles.
