Shuster, chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, said during a committee hearing on Tuesday that he wants the new transportation funding bill to go to the House floor before August recess, our sister site Better Roads reports .

An increase in funding was also requested, though the federal gas tax — which has traditionally funded transportation and has remained at 18.4 cents per gallon for about 20 years — received little discussion.
