Residents in Brookfield, Wisconsin, expressed concerns last week about a proposed clean-fill project, according to a report from the Brookfield Patch .
Elm Grove Now reported that hundreds of neighbors attended a September 12 public meeting, where Brookfield residents and officials discussed a proposed project that would rehabilitate the Sileno Quarry, turning it into city park five years after it is filled with clean fill from nearby highway construction projects.
A company called Super Excavator is proposing the rehabilitation.
The 85-acre site includes a 23-acre quarry lake and would eventually become a 60-acre park and a residential area.
Brookfield Patch reported that some residents approved of the project, while most were against it.
According to Elm Grove Now, the majority of concerns were about truck traffic, noise, dust, safety, property values and hours of operation.
The city’s Plan Commission will consider the proposal on September 23.
