[1]Fills triaxle, on-highway trucks in two passes

[2]Volvo Construction Equipment unveiled its brand new L250G wheel loader at ConExpo-Con/Agg. The company says it is the first wheel loader specifically designed to fill triaxle, on-highway trucks in only two passes, which means up to 30 percent more trucks can be loaded per day. The machine is powered by a Tier 4i-certified engine with OptiShift transmission for enhanced fuel savings. Additional features include an adjustable declutch, electro-hydraulic controls, oil and fuel filters in one location for easy maintenance and less downtime, and a reverse camera. CareTrack is provided as standard equipment and is free for three years.

[3]Advanced jaw crusher technology

[4]Telsmith, Inc., an Astec company, introduced its new H3244 Hydra-Jaw at the show. The company says it is the largest model in its Hydra-Jaw Series, featuring advanced jaw crusher technology that offers lower operating costs, increased uptime and production capacity, streamlined operation and maintenance, and greater safety. The crusher’s 32-inch gape and 44-inch width allows it to accept larger feed; the Hydra-Jaw toggle provides hydraulic tramp iron relief with automatic reset, chamber clearing, and push-button setting adjustments. The unit can be mounted on portable plants or modular fixed-structure assemblies.



 

[5]Constant choke feeding

[6]The new Terex Cedarapids CRC380HLS portable crushing and screening plant was on display in the Terex booth at ConExpo-Con/Agg. The company says the plant is designed to allow constant choke feeding in order to maximize production. Its high-lift screen and cone hopper overflow system allow a large head of material to build up, force-feeding the cone crusher. The large cone hopper and overflow chute buffer feed variations and prevent material from backing up to the screen, allowing peak production rates with no need to throttle back. According to the company, a gross throughput of up to 1,200 tons per hour is possible in sand and gravel. The plant quickly transforms between operating and transport modes. The 6-foot by 20-foot TSH6203 triple-deck horizontal screen has a unique blending gate system that allows combining center and bottom decks in 25-percent increments. Two large 30-inch, 7.5-horsepower reversible product conveyors discharge up to 44 inches beyond the plant frame on either side. The four-axle configuration and a 3+1-axle option provide portability.

[8]The new LBX Link-Belt 250 X3, 300 X3, and 350 X3 excavators were on display at the show. The machines are Tier 4 compliant and feature an upgraded, luxury cab environment with features such as a top-of-the-line 7-inch color work monitor, rearview camera, and auxiliary audio jack for MP3s or iPods. Enhanced hydraulics result in 3- to 5-percent improvement in cycle time.



 

 

 

 

 

[9]Increased uptime

The new Terex Cedarapids MVP459X cone crusher was also on display in the Terex booth. The crusher boasts major new enhancements, including high-speed clearing of jammed material, quick crusher separation capability for fast manganese changes, and easy-to-operate computer controls. The optional “Guardian” PLC control system optimizes production and is fully automated, according to the company. The 400-horsepower crusher incorporates pinned cylinder ends that remove quickly to allow fast cone separation for faster manganese changes. At the press of a button, fully guided dual-action tramp relief cylinders provide 6-inch lift for easy clearing of jammed feed material to reduce downtime. The company says the hydro-pneumatic tramp iron relief system instantly resets the crusher setting after passing uncrushable material without having to activate valves and pumps. The hydraulic-powered threaded upper assembly allows for quick crusher setting adjustment ununder load.



[10]Improved operating efficiencies

[11]Godwin Pumps announced its two new hydraulic submersible Heidra pumps — the HS80HH and the HS150HH — at the show. The pumps are compact, self-contained units featuring 3-inch and 6-inch hydraulic pumpends, respectively, and diesel-driven power packs. Both pumps feature dry-running capabilities and a cast-chromium steel impeller. The company says the HS80HH can meet a variety of flow and head requirements up to 450 gallons per minute and 325 feet of total dynamic head with a simple throttle adjustment, as well as solids handling capability to 1 inch. The HS150HH can meet a variety of flow and head requirements up to 1,250 gallons per minute and total dynamic head requirements up to 460 feet, as well as solids handling up to 1 3/8 inches in diameter.



 

 

[12]Increased power capability

[13]Cummins Inc. highlighted its new Tier 4 Interim QSB3.3 engine at ConExpo-Con/Agg. The company says the engine has an increased power capability to 120 horsepower, one of the highest in the industry for an engine of its size, representing an 11-percent increase in power output above the current Tier 3 engine. According to the company, the power increase is made possible by the more-efficient combustion realized by the aftertreatment simplicity of the Cummins Compact Catalyst, specifically developed to meet EPA Tier 4 Interim emissions taking effect Jan. 1, 2012. The catalyst is less than 20 inches long and removes particulate matter by oxidation with simple exhaust flow-through operation.



[14]Backup mechanical locks

[15]The new JRB PowerLatch was on display in Paladin Construction Group’s booth at the show. The unit features backup mechanical locks on both the front and rear attachment pins that are independent of the machine’s hydraulic locking and operating system. The ABS mechanical backup safety system automatically locks both pins so coupler engagement is maintained, even if a hydraulic failure occurs. Attachments can only be removed under operator control when they are in a safe, curled position.
