Caterpillar says its new 390D L hydraulic excavator has a refined design that provides greater hydraulic power, stronger structural components, added safety and convenience features, and improved serviceability. The 198,570 pound-excavator’s Tier III-compliant, C18 Acert diesel engine boasts advanced electronic control, precise fuel delivery, and refined air management. The 5,080-horsepower engine is said to allow full power at maximum revolutions per minute for efficient hydraulic pump operation and positive hydraulic response.
Design enhancements in the implement’s hydraulic system allow greater digging and lifting forces than its 385C predecessor. The company says an increase in operating pressure, combined with larger diameter hydraulic cylinders, results in a 9-percent boost in digging arm and bucket breakout forces. Over-the-end lifting capacity is increased by 9 percent, and over-the-side capacity is up nearly 20 percent. The undercarriage features redesigned links that operate with lower stress, forged idlers for durability, and heavy-duty track rollers and carrier rollers. Service improvements include an electric fuel-priming pump, a dual-element air cleaner, filters that are accessible from the left side of the machine, easy-to-change spin-on filters, 20-inch-wide walkways, and an electronic warning system that alerts the operator if the air filter or hydraulic filter is approaching restriction limits.
LiuGong’s new fuel-efficient 842IV Z-bar wheel loader features a Tier 4 Interim, six-cylinder, four-cycle, turbocharged, water-cooled Cummins QSB6.7-C200 diesel engine that provides 193 net peak horsepower. The automatic-shift transmission, with a single-stage, three-element torque converter, transfers the engine power to provide a breakout force of 30,574 pounds. Travel speeds range from 26.2 miles per hour in forward to 16.5 miles per hour in reverse. The wheel loader’s automatic boom kick-out/return-to-dig feature ensures fast cycle times for loading using the standard 3.5-cubic-yard general-purpose bucket with reversible cutting edge. The ROPS/FOPS climate-controlled cab features an adjustable suspension seat, back-up alarm, rearview camera, and rotating beacon.
Eriez says its CP 20/80 suspended permanent magnets use a permanent magnet circuit to provide a continuous and uniform magnetic field across the feed belt, optimizing separation efficiency. The simple-to-install units measure 9.2 inches by 29.5 inches by 32.9 inches, weigh 2,313 pounds, and require no power to operate. It removes tramp metal from a 30-inch maximum belt width at a 10-inch suspension height. A self-cleaning belt provides automatic removal of accumulated tramp metal.
John Deere has launched three new G-Series excavators with Tier 4 Interim-certified engines, more power, and cab improvements for increased visibility. The new series includes the 250G, 290G, and 350G, which range from 191 to 299 net horsepower. The new machines retain a number of key features from the previous D-Series, such as the Powerwise III management system. The cooling system cools on demand and has an optional reversing fan to blow out debris. The operator’s station features a full-suspension, high-back seat that adjusts independently from or together with the control console to accommodate any size operator. The next models within the series, the larger 470G, 670G, and 870G, will be formally introduced later this year.
Rice Lake Weighing Systems says its new RailBoss rail scales are integrated directly within the rail itself, costing about one-third that of conventional railroad scale designs. The scales install quickly and are said to require minimal space. When paired with Rice Lake’s 910i Programmable Indicator/Controller and RailBoss software, the scales offer capacities up to 320,000 pounds. The scales are available in either eight-section, full-draft systems or simpler four-section, double-draft models.
Screen Machine Industries says its new 6036T track-mounted portable stacking conveyor will revolutionize the conveyor industry. According to the company, the wireless remote-controlled conveyor will match up to any track-mounted crusher or screening plant for “on-the-fly” mobility. Its counter-weighted design and heavy-duty channel frame provide great stockpiling capability. Hydraulic top fold and cylinder positioning is said to make job site transportation and set-up quick and easy.
The Doosan DL200TC tool carrier with parallel-lift linkage system keeps the work tool flat as it is lifted, an advantage when loads need to stay level. Built around a Tier 3-compliant, 143-horsepower, six-cylinder Doosan diesel engine, the machine has an operating weight of 25,708 pounds with a standard 2.6-cubic-yard bucket; dump height is 8 feet, 11 inches; and dump reach is 3 feet, 1 inch. Bucket breakout force is 23,149 pounds with a pin-on bucket. Static tipping load is 18,913 pounds with a straight frame and 16,272 pounds at the maximum steering angle of 40 degrees. Four forward speeds range from 4.1 to 21.7 miles per hour; three reverse speeds range from 4.5 to 15.5 miles per hour.
Titan Tire Corp. says its next generation 007 MFT mining tire offers enhanced durability, a more aggressive tread pattern, and improved heat dissipation. According to the company, testing shows that the nylon casing design ran 15-percent cooler than the steel casing in an equivalent tire, which makes the tire less susceptible to sidewall fatigue and cut damage. A new triple-bead belt package is said to improve durability, as well as the cut, chip, and wear characteristics of the tire. Sipes are incorporated into the tire lugs to provide additional traction and heat dissipation. A non-solid, center-tread design helps reduce internal heat generation and allows the heat to more easily dissipate, which allows end users to run haul trucks longer distances and at higher speeds. The tires are available in 59/80R63, 53/80R63, 40.00R57, and 27.00R49 sizes.
Major Wire says its new line of 1- by 2-foot Flex-Mat 3 self-cleaning, polyurethane modular screen media panels will fit virtually any flat-surface screen deck, allowing screening operations using traditional polyurethane and rubber panels to increase their screening capacity and in-spec material throughput up to 50 percent. Operations can choose between snap, step, pin, and grooved panels with opening sizes of 0.020 inches up to 1½ inches. Each new 1- by 2-foot panel increases total screen media open area by 4.6 percent when compared to two 1- by 1-foot panels. No screen box changes are necessary to switch to the larger panels.
Diesel-powered portable stacker
McCloskey International’s new diesel-powered, track-mounted stacking conveyors can be easily moved and reconfigured on site as operational requirements change. The Track Stackers are 36 inches wide and are available in 65-, 80-, and 100-foot lengths. The 80-foot model has a maximum capacity of 500 tons per hour at the highest incline; the 65- and 100-foot models can carry 600 tons per hour. Up to 800 tons per hour is available as an option on all three models. The company says the conveyors are counter-weighted and the undercarriage is set back from center, which allows them to run at a 22.5-degree incline and stockpile all the way to the head pulley without burying the tracks. Discharge heights are 25 feet, 10 inches for the 65-foot stacker; 36 feet for the 80-foot stacker; and 40 feet, 5 inches for the 100-foot stacker.
Mettler Toledo says its new VTS101 and VTC101 truck scales use a Powercell PDX load cell technology that eliminates the typical maintenance, repair costs, and downtime related to conventional vehicle scales. The VTS101 consists of a steel deck supported by orthotropic ribs that are sealed from the elements by automated continuous welds. The VTC101 draws on the strengths of both a concrete driving surface and a steel orthotropic understructure, thereby eliminating voids in the deck that occur when pouring concrete around I-beam flanges and sharp corners. The company says the Powercell PDX load cell provides predictive diagnostics, including automatic notification of weighing errors, overloading, environmental conditions, network health, load cell voltages, and enclosure integrity, without the need for maintenance-prone external converter boxes.
