Your complete guide to new and updated equipment and supplies in the aggregates industry.

designed-for-toughUntitled-1 [1]Designed for tough operating conditions

With its kinematics and hydraulic power, the new R 956 crawler excavator, from Liebherr, is designed with increased breakout and digging forces for tough operating conditions. The unit weighs in at 117,945 to 123,020 pounds, depending on configuration, and is powered by a 322-horsepower, Tier 4 interim engine. An automatic idling system helps to optimize fuel consumption, along with two-stage turbocharging with intercooler, which increases power at low revs. A “Regeneration Plus” function allows for accelerated lowering of the boom without sacrificing power.

more-powerUntitled-1 [3]More power in the same footprint

McClanahan Corp. spent the last two years engineering a new jaw crusher designed for high-performance primary crushing. Safety lock pins and hydraulic assist for wear parts change-out makes maintenance safer. Adjustments to the closed-side settings are now simpler. Hydraulic rams are isolated from crushing action, allowing longer life and full automation, while nearly eliminating toggle migration. The attack angle and crushing stroke pattern were re-engineered to increase capacity by up to 15 percent, while minimizing wear on the jaw dies.

wheel-loaerUntitled-1 [5]Wheel loader bumps payload

Cat’s new 990K wheel loader offers more power and increased payload for improved productivity and fuel efficiency. It features a redesigned cab that delivers a sleek operator interface and quiet environment, as well as several features to promote operator and maintenance technician safety and performance. Designed as a loading tool for the 773, 775, and 777 trucks, it has a rated payload of 17.5 tons, up from its 16.5-ton predecessor, the 990H. New Performance Series Buckets promote fast filling and full buckets; they are available in sizes ranging from 11.25 to 13 cubic yards. The Cat C27 ACERT engine powers the unit and delivers an 11-percent increase in power compared to the earlier model. New power of 699 horsepower helps increase production without a corresponding spike in fuel consumption. Additional fuel-saving features include ECO Mode (on-demand throttle), engine-idle shutdown system, and engine-idle kickdown/auto-resume mode.

dust-controlUntitled-1 [7]Dust control for track plants

Nesco’s DustPro Series H spray system is designed for hydraulically driven track-mounted plants. It includes a high-pressure pump with hydraulic motor, control panel, and wireless remote. The pump module features two output lines, each with a solenoid valve. One line supplies nozzles at the feed hopper to control dust when the plant is charged, the other supplies nozzles at strategic locations throughout the rest of the plant. Spray nozzles at the hopper also can be automated by installing an optional presence detector. Wireless remote operation allows the loader operator to control the spray system by using spray nozzles only when and where they are needed.

quick-belUntitled-1 [9]Quick belt fastener installation

Flexco’s Pneumatic Single Rivet Driver is now compatible with its BR Rivet Solid Plate fasteners and installation tools. When used in conjunction with the fasteners, it speeds installation by up to 33 percent. The driver features a dual handle for balance and ergonomic gripping, a heavy-duty rod for high-quality splices, and pneumatic driving power for robust installation. A single trigger pull per rivet saves time and reduces worker fatigue.

more-horsepowerUntitled-1 [11]More horsepower

Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas, Inc.’s HL780-9A wheel loader features a 351-horsepower Cummins QSX11.9 Tier 4 interim engine. It has three engine modes: power mode for heavy-duty work; standard mode for general work; and economy mode for light-duty work. The loader is also equipped with a fully automatic transmission designed for minimum power loss, improved travel speed, and low noise. It has an operating weight of 66,800 pounds, a bucket capacity of 7.1 cubic yards; and a bucket breakout force of 52,360 pounds. An extended reach model is also available. Operator comfort is addressed in the newly redesigned cab, which features rounded front glass, larger door glass, climate control, a tilting and telescoping steering column, and a 5.7-inch touch screen color monitor.

portable-fragmentationUntitled-1 [13]Portable fragmentation analysis

Motion Metrics offers PortaMetrics, a patent-pending, point-and-shoot portable tablet that provides fragmentation analysis of the desired scene without the need for any reference scaling object. It combines a 3-D imaging sensor with a processing unit to provide accurate fragmentation information in a matter of seconds. Users can switch between a single view image and multiple image view to access information including rock size distribution, individual rock size and distance, real-time range measurement, instantaneous slope measurement, device orientation sensing, and more.

higher-productionUntitled-1 [15]Higher production contractor crushers

Kleemann’s new Mobirex MR 110 ZSi EVO 2 and MR 130 Zi EVO 2 represent the next evolution of its contractor line with enhancements focused on economy and operational safety. Crusher inlet openings of 43.3 inches (MR 110 ZSi EVO 2) and 51 inches (MR 130 Zi EVO 2) provide feed capacities of up to 350 or 450 tons per hour, respectively. The ‘S’ unit includes a secondary vibrating screen with extra-large screening surface mounted on the discharge conveyor. The screen can produce spec material and potentially eliminate the need for a separate screen. The feeding unit has hydraulically folding hopper walls and locking system, which speeds setup. A vibrating double-deck prescreen between the hopper and crusher eliminates fines from the product flow before they enter the crusher, reducing wear and fuel costs. Both units are Tier 4 Final compliant and use direct drive crushers and electric drives for the vibrating conveyors, belts, and prescreen.

portable-or-stationaryUntitled-1 [17]Portable or stationary dewatering

KPI-JCI and Astec Mobile Screens has added the S9000 Dewatering Screen to its lineup. It can reduce moisture content of washed sand down to as low as 8 to 15 percent. Available in multiple sizes ranging from 2 by 7 feet up to 8 by 16 feet, its 1,200-rpm motors generate up to 1/4-inch stroke to provide the G-force action needed to separate water from the material. It is equipped with urethane media, has an adjustable incline from 0 to 5 degrees, and can be packaged in portable, semi-portable, and stationary systems.

eliminates-the-needUntitled-1 [19]Eliminates the need for settling ponds

McLanahan introduces an updated version of its filter press line, designed to make operations more efficient, while eliminating the need for settling ponds. Filter press operation has been streamlined with fewer moving parts and a single hydraulic filter. The system also eliminates the need for a full-time operator.

bucket-increaseUntitled-1 [20]Bucket increases dumping height

Paladin Attachments introduces the new JRB roll-out bucket for wheel loaders. The bucket is said to improve the dumping height of any loader, making it easier to clear 13-foot, 6-inch haul trailers, while increasing the productivity of single-side filling operations. It uses twin, dual-cushioned cylinders to top the bucket to its edge, increasing the working dump height of the bucket. Available in sizes that range from 4- to 7- cubic-yard capacities in half-yard increments, the roll-out bucket is available in either quick-coupler or pin-on attachment styles and includes the jumper hoses.

durable-treadntitled-1 [22]Durable tread design

Yokohama Tire Corp. offers two new off-the-road tires, the RL45 and RL51. The tires feature new treads that are said to be more durable and longer lasting. The RL45 is made for articulated dump trucks and scrapers. Available in size 26.5R25, it boasts an advanced tread composition to provide improved wear, low-heat generation, and cut resistance, while the zigzag-shaped groove provides better traction on rock and gravel surfaces. The RL51 is designed for front-end loaders and graders. Available in size 23.5R25, a high-tech tread compound provides better wear and cut resistance. Both tires feature a non-directional block pattern.
