Sand and Gravel Pricing by State

While sand and gravel producers have closed the door on 2013 production, state-by-state pricing trends throughout the most recent year are not yet widely available.

Operators can, however, look to 2012 production and pricing information to benchmark how they fared against others in their area and across the country.

In terms of overall production, the top states were Texas, California, Minnesota, Arizona and Michigan. The five states produced approximately 163,800,000 tons of material during 2012.

The average price of a metric ton of sand and gravel was $7.84, with the highs ranging from $19.35 in Hawaii to $4.78 in South Dakota.
