Some DOT operations suspended with government shutdown

Some U.S. Department of Transportation operations have been suspended due to the federal government shutdown that began at 12:01 a.m. today, according to a report from our sister site, Better Roads .
The majority of the activities suspended cannot remain in operation without the 18,481 employees that are furloughed  as of today.
Better Roads reports that the following sectors of the DOT are suspending certain programs:
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
Federal Transit Administration (FTA)
Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA)
Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA)
Maritime Administration (MARAD)
Surface Transportation Board (STB)
Office of the Secretary (OST)
Office of the Inspector General (OIG)
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC) are continuing all operations and activities.
