Alabama lawmakers this week rejected a Madison County, Alabama, bill intended to stop quarry expansions near Gurley, according to AL.com [2].

The bill was not passed before the Alabama legislature’s session ended Tuesday.

The legislation would have halted Vulcan Materials blasting on Gurley Mountain [3] by preventing quarry operations within 2.5 miles of any existing Madison County school [4].
