Assistant Director of MSHA
Wayne Palmer appointed acting assistant director of MSHA.

The temporary appointment of Palmer does not require Senate confirmation, which allows the DOL to move quickly to provide senior political leadership at MSHA.

Many believe that, in September, the Administration will announce its intent to nominate someone to serve as a permanent head of MSHA. That confirmation process is expected to take a while. The NSSGA continues to push for a nominee with aggregates industry experience to head the agency.
