The driver of a dump truck died when his truck crashed in Deposit, N.Y. at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017, according to a media release from the New York State Police, who responded to a motor vehicle accident report with serious injury on a quarry access road off state Route 8 in Delaware County. When troopers arrived at the scene, they found an overturned 1990 Mack dump truck in the middle of the road.
After an investigation of the scene, troopers concluded that the truck driver, 66-year-old William B. Barse, was hauling stone from the quarry when he drove off the road several times, striking trees, and finally overturning in the middle of the road. The driver had been ejected from the truck and was pronounced “deceased at the scene.”
The truck is registered to SLLC Inc., a transportation and shipping company. An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, and an autopsy is being done on Barse, as it was suspected that the accident was due to a medical emergency.
