Man crushed when truck pulling trailer full of gravel overturns on Highway 70 on-ramp

A truck pulling a trailer load of gravel overturned on a Highway 70 on-ramp in Yuba County, Calif., spilling its load and killing a 46-year-old man who was standing next to a pickup truck on the shoulder, a California Highway Patrol news release reports, according to The Sacramento Bee reports. The accident occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Monday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2018, when the truck driver made a left turn onto the ramp. The truck and trailer overturned onto their right sides, crushing the man on the shoulder, while gravel spilled out of the trailer and struck the man’s pickup. Luckily, the 17-year-old boy in the passenger seat of the pickup was not injured.

The man who was crushed died at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of family. The driver of the truck pulling the trailer full of gravel was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.
