Improved fuel economy, performance
Case Construction Equipment says its new 621F wheel loader provides up to a 10-percent increase in fuel economy over the previous model, while delivering faster acceleration, quicker cycle times, and higher travel speeds. The loader features a 6.7-liter Tier 4 Interim-certified engine that delivers up to 162 horsepower, a 2.75-square-yard bucket capacity, and an operating weight of 26,641 pounds. A new dual-mode shutdown feature maximizes fuel economy and monitors vital engine components. The operator can limit idle time by using the fuel-saver mode; desired shutdown time can be set in five-minute increments.
The new loader includes standard limited-slip front and rear axles for traction in all conditions. Optional heavy-duty axles with locking front and conventional rear differentials help reduce tire wear when working on hard surfaces. The standard four-speed transmission with manual kick-down capability provides traction and increased bucket penetration. Award-winning joystick steering enables operators to move seamlessly between the joystick and steering wheel. The PowerInch feature maintains high RPMs to maximize hydraulic power and control, allowing the operator to approach targets in tight areas quickly and precisely, regardless of engine speed.
The cab offers an unobstructed view to both edges of the bucket or attachment; a wide window and sloping hood provide clear vision to the rear. A new rear-view, wide-angle camera with adjustable color monitor is available to eliminate blind spots. An advanced instrument cluster monitors fuel consumption and enables the operator to adjust various functions without relying on a service technician. The cab also features ergonomically placed controls and a new heated cloth seat with seven adjustment modes.
Delivers power, versatility
Kobelco added the SK210 full-size, high-performance excavator to its Tier 4-Interim Mark 9 series. The SK210 is said to deliver a 10-percent improvement in both fuel efficiency and productivity, with more power and faster engine response, thanks to its Power Boost feature. A Heavy Lift feature delivers 10 percent more lifting and swing capability on command, without time limit.
The excavator features an upgrade to its intelligent hydraulics, a new economy power mode, a new ROPS/FOPS-certified cab, and a low engine cover and standard rear-view camera for improved visibility. A fully automatic engine and hydraulic warm-up system heats the hydraulic circuit to 126 degrees F to improve system efficiency and reduce component wear. Integrated swing priority provides smooth transition of additional pump power to the swing function. Automatic hydraulic regeneration feeds the cylinder demanding oil first, with oil that is being pushed out of another cylinder. The independent travel feature, activated with a switch, dedicates a pump to travel motors for better movement while performing other functions. Additional features include swing flashers and step extensions, as well as plug-in capability for telematics. An optional, severe-duty undercarriage is available, as well as an optional special application package featuring high and wide undercarriage, reinforced frame, guarding, auxiliary hydraulics with extra rotation pump, and provisions for a cab riser.
Minimizes structural vibration
W.S. Tyler says its new F-Class four-bearing double-eccentric vibrating screen minimizes structural vibration and delivers a more consistent stroke than traditional two-bearing screens. As the eccentric shaft turns, the screen body is forced to follow the shaft movement. While it travels upward, the counterbalance weights move in the opposite direction, which creates an equal force to that generated by the body. As a result, the forces cancel each other out, so the dynamically balanced system does not transmit any vibrations into the structure. This allows screens to be placed side by side, if desired, minimizing investments in heavy structures. The double-eccentric shaft creates a constant positive stroke that is said to easily handle material volume spikes without losing momentum, which translates into pegging- and blinding-free aggregate operations as the consistent G-force keeps the openings clear.
The screen is available in sizes from 6 by 12 feet up to 8 by 24 feet with inclines from 10 to 25 degrees. It screens material sizes from 6 inches down to 20 mesh, offers up to three screen decks, and comes with a base frame that allows for simple installation. Additional features include a rugged huck-bolted body design free from welds, 90-degree top and 45-degree bottom Durabend side plates, patented angle box tensioning, single-point grease lubrication, and hands-free tube housing for bearing work without come-alongs or drift pins.
Sends weight data wirelessly
Cardinal Scale Mfg. Co. says its new SnapStream is the only NTEP legal-for-trade wireless truck scale system on the market for commercial applications. It allows a scale to send weight data wirelessly to an indicator, which, in turn, wirelessly sends it to a host of peripheral equipment such as remote displays, printers, PCs, and networks. The digitally controlled weighing and diagnostic system is designed using 802.15.4 Zigbee protocol for reliable and accurate weight and data transmission. The system may be configured using one to 16 load cells. The truck scale junction box accommodates two to four, four-cell analog boards, which perform the analog-to-digital weight conversion for each load cell and transmit data wirelessly to indicators where the weight data is displayed. The indicators can send data wirelessly to any Cardinal remote displays, printers, or local remotes. The communications module may be used to interface wirelessly from the weight indicator to a PC using USB, RS232 serial, or Ethernet connectivity or a printer using RS232 serial or Ethernet.
Wear resistant, versatile
Xylem’s portable Flygt sludge 2600 pumps (models 2620.280, 2630.280, and 2640.280) have a range of 1.5 to 5.6 kW and are capable of flows up to 450 gallons per minute and heads up to 128 feet. The wear-resistant pumps handle solids up to 3.2 inches and sand concentrations of approximately 20 percent by weight, due to a larger inlet and pump volute, a Hard-Iron vortex impeller, a polyurethane-lined pump housing, and a side discharge design. The hydraulic ends of the pumps share drive units and common parts, and are interchangeable with similarly sized models of the 2600 drainage series, which allows end users to reduce spare parts inventory. The pumps feature the patented Flygt Plug-in seal, which provides a double mechanical seal in a compact and easy-to-replace single cartridge. External oil and inspection plugs allow for seal condition checks and oil changes without dismantling the pumps, and the removable top gives quick access to all electrical components. The pumps also incorporate the terminal board, which seals off the junction box from the motor, thus preventing any water from passing between compartments. The screwless, spring-loaded terminal design is said to ensure reliable connections and simplified wiring.
Excavator digging systems
Case Construction Equipment’s new Smart Digging Systems components include new pin-on buckets, the Multi-Fit Coupler, coupler buckets, and SmartFit bucket teeth. The pin-on buckets include heavy-duty buckets with a rugged cutting edge; severe-duty buckets with rugged T-1 or AR400 steel in high-wear areas, along with double bottom and horizontal wear strips and thicker edges; heavy-duty, high-capacity buckets with 20 percent higher capacity than standard; and ditching buckets with a formed back wrapper.
The Multi-Fit Coupler offers complete hydraulic latching, enabling operators to quickly attach and detach buckets without leaving the cab. A patented mechanical blocking system eliminates manual safety pin insertion. A hydraulic check valve and mechanical blocking bar help prevent the accidental release of an attachment.
The company says the SmartFit bucket teeth system provides stronger, more durable teeth and adapters, and hammerless, reusable locking pins. They are available in a variety of configurations to fit a full range of buckets.
Simulates aggregate plant operations
BedRock Software, LLC says the new version 276 for its AggFlow aggregate plant simulation program allows users to simulate aggregate plant operations more realistically than ever before. In addition to the modeling capabilities and blending calculations, the program helps track and report all aspects of plant operations, including machine power usage, operating costs, and emissions. Version 276 sets the stage for users to implement the forthcoming AggOPTI profitability module to calculate profitability scenarios and determine the most profitable operating schedule to meet specific product demand. Users can select from the pre-populated equipment data library or install their own equipment models in the program.
Contributes operating efficiency advantages
ACS Valves says its new MD series of rotary feeder valves provides material metering that contributes tangible operating efficiency advantages, as well as long-term production and maintenance savings. The feeders are constructed with an eight-vane rotary valve that ensures proper pressure sealing at the inlet and outlet flange, which can reduce compressed air loss by up to 28-cubic-feet per minute/year, a savings of up to $3,600/year. It contributes additional process efficiency savings with an available variable frequency drive that modulates drive speed and reduces electricity consumption. The feeder design provides long-term production and maintenance savings by reducing total lifecycle maintenance requirements. The series features an outboard bearing design that removes the bearings from the path of damaging and contaminating materials and protects the bearing in high-temperature applications to 750 degrees F, while managing application pressure differentials. The feeders are available in cast iron or cast 304 or 316 stainless steel. Seven valve sizes are available from 4 to 16 inches. Rotor configurations include closed-end, metering, shallow-pocket, Teflon-coated, and adjustable tip.
