360-ton payload

Komatsu’s new 960E-1 AC electric drive truck is its largest ever. The 3,500-horsepower machine weighs 1.27 million tons when fully loaded and has a 360-ton payload.

Extended reach now available

Case is now offering extended reach linkage for higher dump clearance on its full size wheel loaders, including the 7-cubic-yard, 320-horsepower 1221E.

Removes rebar from debris

Eco-Crusher has added an optional magnet to its jaw-crushing bucket to provide a means of removing rebar from crushed debris.

New mega-dozer generation

Cat has unveiled the T-series version of its vaunted D-11 dozer. The 850-horsepower machine gets a Tier 3 engine, operator and service improvements, and options such as a hydraulically powered access ladder and a two-camera work area vision system.

Compact portable plant

Pump Vacuum Systems has developed a different way to produce sand and gravel using the company’s PVS Jet Pump. It created a portable plant that can produce multiple products while washing the material. The plant uses a grizzly screen to remove oversize, then moves sized material into the pump, where it is washed and conveyed either to a de-sander or a velocity box, then separated into final products. The company says its first plant is producing 300 tons per hour using one wheel loader to charge the plant and load trucks.

Down-the-hole rig for tight spaces

Atlas Copco says its new 4-F1 is a flexible, compact rig that can work in tight spaces and can go anywhere it needs to go. It drills 4- to 6-inch holes 300 feet deep and works with Symmetrix drilling systems for casing advance and extract.

Energy-efficient gear motor

Baldor Electric Co. says its new Dodge Quantis Gold combines Quantis ILH (In-Line Helical) and Quantis RHB (Right Angle Helical Bevel) gear motors with the company’s premium motors to create the most energy-efficient gear motor package available. Motor and gearbox combinations up to 10 horsepower are available.

Production-boosting roller bearings

Emerson Industrial describes its new Sealmaster Mounted Spherical Roller Bearing as an advanced, double-row design that improves load capacity and speed capabilities in aggregate conveyor operations. The bearings feature pillow blocks that contain high-capacity, double-row spherical roller bearings designed to carry high radial and combination loads. The series is said to have a higher basic dynamic rating (BDR) than competing models with a similar cartridge design.

Ruggedized time clock system

TimePilot has rolled out a time and attendance system designed from the ground up for construction-related applications. The weatherproof design can be mounted on walls, posts, or the side of a truck. Employees clock in and out by touching a key-sized iButton to the clock. The clock reads the iButton, identifies the employee, and records the time.

Terex has introduced a family of excavator-mounted hydraulic transverse cutting units for scaling soft to medium-hard rock as well as excavation and demolition.

Case Construction Equipment and its engine supplier, Cummins, won an Excellence in Engineering Award from Diesel Progress magazine for the 297-horsepower, 5.75-cubic-yard 921E wheel loader introduced last year.

Firestone has unveiled a new on/off highway truck tire. The FD835 is designed for superior traction on and off road, and exceptional wear life.

Rajant Corp., a wireless networking provider, and Carlson Software, a software developer focused on mining and construction, have announced a partnership to develop productivity solutions for the mining and construction industries.

Chevron has begun transitioning its dual-branded Chevron and Texaco product lines to a single brand under the Chevron name.

Tramac has unveiled two new heavy-range hydraulic breakers, the 5,555-pound V2500 and the 3,913-pound V1800.
