Vulcan’s Robin E. Graves receives ASTM International Award of Merit

ASTM International‘s Concrete and Concrete Aggregates Committee announced that it presented its Award of Merit to Robin E. Graves, corporate manager of technical services for Vulcan Materials Co. in Birmingham, Ala. It is ASTM’s highest award and includes the title of “fellow.” The committee issued a press release stating that it “honored Graves for outstanding contributions to improving standards for aggregate materials, durability of aggregates and concrete, to standards that support sustainability initiatives, and for leadership on committee C09.”

Graves currently serves as Vice Chairman of Committee C09 and Chairman of Committee C07, and has served on the ASTM Board of Directors and Committee on Technical Committee Operations. As a member of ASTM International since 1992, Graves has received several awards, including the C09 Subcommittee Chairman Award in 2009, the Award of Appreciation from ASTM International Committee on Lime and Limestone (C07) in 2012, and the Katharine and Bryant Mather Award from Committee C09 in 2016. Graves is also a member of the American Concrete Institute and the Transportation Research Board.

Graves earned a B.S. in Geology and Computer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and holds a M.S. and Ph.D. in Geology and Civil Engineering from the University of Florida.
